Dimethyl sulphide: measuring emissions from the ocean to the atmosphere

That human activity is related to global warming is nowadays widely accepted. The main cause is no doubt the increase in the atmosphere of the "greenhouse" gas carbon dioxide from fossil fuel combustion. Scientific prograÍnmes that focus on the quantification of sources and sinks of such gases have been designed and investigations of marine, terrestrial and atmospheric (bio-)geochemical processes are being undertaken. An important constraint to progress in understanding and in the capability of predicting gas transfer between the various compartments on earth (land, sea, and air) has been the lack of a proper methodology to assess air-sea gas fluxes. ...
