In this thesis two subjects are discussed that are different but at the same time closely related to each other. The first subject is the study of hyperons produced on a polarized 1,2H target using data taken in the HERMES experiment at DESY. The second subject is the development of a tracking detector, i.e. the Lambda Weels, that extends the acceptance of the HERMES spectrometer in order to increase the detection probability for Λ0 hyperons. ...
