Synthesis and characterization of oxygen functionalised titanium complexes

(2000) Gielens, Elisabeth Eduarda Catharina Geertruida

The enormous variety of polymers that is available nowadays is owed particularly to the discovery and further development of homogeneous catalyst systems. These systems made it possible to control the structure of the polymer by tuning of the ligand or by variation of the metal used. Therefore, ligand design has become a major aspect in the development of new
catalyst systems. Also in this thesis metal complexes with new ligand systems as possible catalyst for olefin polymerisation play a key role. Two types of complexes have been studied (i) complexes in which one cyclopentadienyl ligand of a traditional metallocene is substituted by an alkoxide or aryloxide function (so-called constrained geometryc omplexes) and (ii) complexes in which both cyclopentadienyl complexes are replaced by an aryloxide. ...
