Detecting genetic variation: application of molecular techniques in conservation biology.

As emphasized in the introduction and thoughout the different chapters in this thesis, the relative importance of genetic, demographic and environmental factors in the extinction
chances of natural populations has not unequivocally been established. Scrupulous investigation of many different populations, taking into account all three components, isessential to gain more insight into the complex, and ever changing interplay ofthese factors.
