Cells of eukaryotic organisms contain compartments (organelles), which fulfil different functions in the overall metabolism of the cell. Microbodies (peroxisomes) may be
regarded as organelles in which distinct metabolic conversions are catalyzed, mostly by non-membrane bound enzymes. For instance fatty acid B-oxidation enzymes appear to be present in the matrix of the peroxisomes of most, if not all aerobic eukaryotes. ....
