Diffusion of large molecules in porous structures

This thesis deals with the diffusion of large molecules in porous structures. Such structures are often used to separate proteins and other polymers. Diffusion is described by generalized versions of the equations of Maxwell and Stefan. Three separation processes are considered: gel permeation chromotography, ion exchange chromotography and ultrafiltration.
