Substance P and the neurokinin 1 receptor: from behavior to bioanalysis

(2009) Hart, Maria Geertrudis Cornelia van der

Research described in this thesis deals with the properties of the peptide Substance P and its preferred receptor, the neurokinin 1 receptor. Since Substance P plays an important role in emotional disorders, the effect of a potential new type of antidepressant was investigated in an animal model of depression in treeshrews. Furthermore, new analytical methods were developed so the dynamics of substance P in the brain could be studied.
