(2001) Sieders, Egbert
After the introduction of so-called technical-variant liver transplantations, waiting list time and waiting list mortality for pediatric patients with an end-stage liver disease have decreased. Despite these new techniques, which include transplantation of reduced-size and split liver grafts, there is still scarcity of donor organs for pediatric patients. Additionally, pediatric liver transplantation is still hampered by patient and graft loss. The aim of this
thesis was to identify factors that affect the outcome of pediatric liver transplantation in terms of patient and graft survival and morbidity. Studies were based on the experience of the University Hospital Groningen, where since 1982 more than 160 liver transplantations in children were performed.
