(1994) Hajonides der-Hajonides van der Meulen, Wilhelmina Reinhardi
Psychiatric symptoms are usually described by grouping them into classes, such as 'anxiety disorder', 'mood disorder' or 'schizophrenia'. These classes comprise a series of symptoms of which respectively anxious mood, depressed or manic mood, or psychotic thinking, have a central position. Such a 'classificatory' diagnosis has several drawbacks.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether a dimensional description is indeed more valuable than the traditional classificatory system.
